On our first night living in Saint Pierre des Nids, our three horses escaped through a gap in the hedge and we found them playing with two large Percheron horses along the road. This was how we first met our good neighbours, who owned the two Percherons. On another day, after the fence was repaired, these two came visiting us, hanging their huge heads over the hedge.

We missed the Percheron show the first year we were here but went along in 2008 and had a wonderful afternoon, watching pairs of mare and foal walking and trotting round to be judged. I took over 100 photos then but have tried to encapsulate the experience with just a few here.

Sur notre première nuit vivant dans Pierre Saint des Nids, nos trois chevaux se sont échappés par un écart dans la haie et nous les avons trouvés jouant avec deux grands chevaux Percheron le long de la route. C'était comment nous avons d'abord rencontré nos bons voisins, qui ont possédé deux Percherons.
